One Piece is Licensed?! By Funimation?! No Wai!!

Yes, you read it right, and you’ve probably read it all over the “intarwebz” already. Still, this is one of the biggest and best licenses this year. One Piece needed to be rescued from 4Kids, that’s all there is to it. Regardless of how long it takes to get the first episodes out on DVD, or what edits they make to the TV version, it’s in better hands now.
Hopefully, this will also open the door for other anime that were mangled by 4Kids. Perhaps we will see Funimation (or some other company), release Shaman King, Ojamajo Doremi, Pretty Cure, and Tokyo Mew Mew un-cut on DVD. For now, I’m fine with One Piece, as I’m sure that 4Kids is dropping out of the anime business.

@Death-T: Well, for one thing, I just mentioned a fraction of what I would like to see unedited from 4Kids.
Second, I forgot YGO. I really don’t care about the show, so it’s not on my mind when this sort of topic comes up. That’s not to say that I don’t want to see it unedited. I want every anime released in R1 to be unedited. Period.
@Sopi: Downloading the show now that it is licensed is worng. I really dislike it when people download stuff like this, when it needs every purchase it can get.

Why do they have to dub One Piece? They will just ruin it. -__- The FUNi voices and songs sound horrible. FUNimation isn’t much better than 4Kids, they just don’t edit death, alchohol and blood in a ridiculous way. I’m very sad because almost every American OP fan is now excited and happy because FUNimation “saved” One Piece from 4Kids. The FUNi dub is almost as horrible as 4Kids dub!

Well, I prefer downloading One Piece with Japanese audio. It is, however, the ORIGINAL version. I want to hear the lovely ORIGINAL voices, not the American voices. I would be very happy if nobody bought FUNimation’s One Piece DVDs. FUNi wouldn’t ruin it anymore.

@ Insane: I really don’t understand what problem you could have with the One Piece DVD’s. All you have to do is switch the audio to the Japanese track and there you go! Really, it sounds more like you prefer downloading OP so that you do not have to pay anything for it, because, other than that, you have no reason to not pay for it.

Well. If I have to choose between free One Piece with Japanese audio and not free One Piece with English audio… I think I will choose the free, original version. Besides you can’t buy ANY One Piece DVDs in my country. Of course if they would sell One Piece DVDs with subtitles and Japanese audio I would buy them.
